The Philippine
Psychological Association (PAP) Assessment Psychology Division and the PAP Ad
Hoc Committee on Psychometrician’s Welfare and Concerns successfully held the
“One in Psychology 2023” on August 12, 2023 via Zoom. The event was attended by
660 registered participants from all over the Philippines.
The event featured two
keynote speakers: Dr. Grace Aguiling-Dalisay, and Dr. John Kliatchko. Dr.
Aguiling-Dalisay spoke about the importance of reimagining psychological
assessment in the Philippine context, while Dr. Kliatchko discussed the latest
updates on psychometricians’ career paths.
The event also
featured two learning sessions on translation and standardization of
psychological tests, and on conducting intake interviews. The sessions were
facilitated by Prof. Ma. Angeles Guanzon-Lapena, and Dr. Boboy Alianan.
The event concluded
with a general meeting of psychometricians facilitated by the event chair, Ms.
Florabel S. Suarez, and co-chairs, Ms. Armenia Montano and Ms. Florence Culaba,
where the PAP Ad Hoc Committee on Psychometrician’s Welfare and Concerns discussed
the latest initiatives of the PAP on behalf of psychometricians. The committee
also invited the participants to share their concerns and questions.
The event was a
success and was well-received by the participants. The organizers expressed
their gratitude to all the participants, speakers, and facilitators for their
support. They also expressed their hope that the event has helped to promote
the field of psychology in the Philippines and to strengthen the ties among
psychometricians.
