The USAID RenewHealth recently held the first batch of training of trainers for the Lusog Isip Kabataan Education (LIKE) program. The training was held on July 25, 2023 at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.
The LIKE program is a school-based intervention that aims to promote mental health and well-being among students. The program focuses on mental health, stress, encouraging adaptive coping, and substance use. This was recently pilot-tested in several partner schools as a teacher-facilitated and peer-facilitated program.
The said program is part of the USAID RenewHealth Project in partnership with the Department of Health to support DOH’s and DepED’s Healthy Learning Institution’s initiative of ensuring learners' health and well-being.
Among the training participants were Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) representatives Ms. Ann Maribel M. Hapin, Ms. Armenia Montano, Ms. Patricia Datul-Ramirez, Dr. Pricila Marzan, and Dr. Jonathan Aganan. The attendees learned about the LIKE program curriculum, how to deliver the lessons, and how to facilitate the activities.
The training of trainers was a success, and the PAP representatives are confident that the LIKE program will be implemented effectively in schools across the Philippines.
